Babylonstoren, Nebukadnesar 2022

Lying in the shadow of the Simonsburg and Du Toitskloof mountains of South Africa's Franschhoek Valley, the history of the sustainably farmed vineyards & orchards of Babylonstoren can be traced back to the 17th Century. Nebukadnesar 2022 opens with an intriguing florally-herbal fragrance of violets and thyme, intense blackcurrant and underlying cigar notes. It's superbly crafted with a good balance of vibrant multi-layered dark red fruits supported by a tight, intricate texture. Opulent, sophisticated and with a very long, compelling finish. Drinking well now but will continue to develop over the next 10-15 years.
